STORY
The Cardozo is one of Ocean Drive's most photographed Art Deco hotels and a sun-soaked centerpiece of Charlotte's Structural Series.
Using her signature multi layer photographic technique, Charlotte builds the artwork from her own photographs of the hotel and the life unfolding around it. The white façade anchors the composition, restrained and elegant, with its two circular medallions and central vertical window holding the symmetry. Below, the rhythm of orange awnings and umbrellas spreads across the sidewalk café, the color that makes the Cardozo unmistakable from the street. Palm leaves layer diagonally across the frame, catching the sun that bursts through the top of the image. In the foreground, beachgoers move across the sand in dozens of small figures, walking, gathering, sunbathing under the Miami light. The hotel's name surfaces twice: once small, where it actually lives on the building, and once large and ghosted at the base of the composition, present but dreamlike, the way a familiar place lingers after you have left it.
The result is not a photograph of The Cardozo. It is The Cardozo as Charlotte sees it on a bright afternoon walk down Ocean Drive.
This work is part of The Structural Series, Charlotte's ongoing exploration of Miami Beach's iconic Art Deco hotels, the city she has called home since 2012.
Each image in the composition is personally photographed by Charlotte, ensuring a genuine and unique piece. Signed, numbered, and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
