The Broken Series is a tribute to the Cubist artists of the early twentieth century, reimagining the world’s most iconic monuments through layered photography.
Moving around each landmark, Charlotte gathers it from many angles and layers those views onto a single surface: a graphic rhythm of shapes, lines, and angles, the architecture keeping its depth and the sense of having been circled. No one sees a monument in a single look. The work holds the circling rather than the view.
The series asks the viewer to look beyond the obvious, to uncover the hidden complexity of the world’s masterpieces and find the beauty in details a single image could never hold.
