Each one began as an encounter: days spent in New York, a parade in Nassau, a green door in Morocco.
The portrait and its surroundings merge until they cannot be pulled apart. A face carries its city. A body holds its landscape.
The result is not a record but a recollection. No memory of a person arrives clean of the place they were in.
