STORY
Chilean Poem is Chile gathered into a single image, built from Charlotte's own photographs of Patagonia, Valparaíso, and Easter Island.
Using her signature multi layer photographic technique, Charlotte composites many of her own frames into one image, the way a film editor assembles a scene from many takes. A moai stands in profile on the left, laid over the artwork as a transparency. The stone keeps its shape, but Valparaíso shows through it, houses stacked up the hillside, painted walls and balconies carrying on straight through the figure. In life the moai stands more than two thousand miles offshore. Here it shares the same ground as the city.
Behind it, the snow peaks of Torres del Paine cut across the center. The Paine River runs turquoise from the middle of the frame toward the right edge, breaking white over rock where it drops into Salto Grande Waterfall. Lower down, the land is stone and low vegetation, greens running pale and bright across the base of the artwork.
At the lower right, a woman from a Valparaíso mural, with rock and green showing through her. The city is painted end to end, hill after hill of murals.
The layering chases an impression rather than a record. This is not Chile as it was photographed. It is a country too long to see at once, gathered into one frame.
This work is part of The Breathe Series, Charlotte Fonne's landscapes and cityscapes, where reality merges with the echoes of memory.
Each image in the composition is personally photographed by Charlotte, ensuring a genuine and unique piece. Signed, numbered, and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
