HOW I FOUND MY INSPIRATION

HOW I FOUND MY INSPIRATION

ART IS MY INSPIRATION

From the moment I delved into art history, I knew I wouldn’t stop digging into it. Art reveals so much about the human being. It shows how artists represent their environment, their life, and their time across history. To me, exploring art’s evolution is exploring how artists have pushed their boundaries of representation without forgetting to be innovative. In each artistic movement, they perceive the world, integrate it, and reproduce it in a different way. Art history has always been a gold mine for my inspiration.

That’s how understanding other artists makes me understand myself. I discovered what I wanted to do to transmit and reflect my inner vision of the world.

The first current that inspired me was the Impressionist movement. It was a revelation when I understood how revolutionary they were. And it’s all in the name! They started representing an impression instead of recreating perfectly what they witnessed! I decided to do the same with photography and I immediately felt loose and free to create. I always loved taking pictures but I felt limited. For me, an image, as beautiful as it is, is not enough to describe how I feel. This is how I developed my layering technique and the “Breathe" series was born. It’s an ongoing series that I complete after each trip I take. Each artwork condenses what I brought back home from each destination.
Since then, I continue to create others series, always using the same technique, getting inspiration from the masters and enjoying discovering myself.

SOME EXEMPLES

See below the parallel between some of the most famous Impressionist paintings and my artworks.

Note that my images were not directly inspired by a specific painting. The entire impressionist movement inspired me. It was only after completing several pieces that I realized how strong the influence was on my art. Some of my pieces really echo the paintings in terms of colors, composition and vibration. I found it really interesting to explain and show the impact of the impressionist current on my photography inspiration.
