STORY

In Cidade Maravilhosa, Charlotte Fonne captures the spirit of Rio de Janeiro through a layered photographic exploration that blends reality and memory. The artwork evokes the energy of Ipanema Beach, with sunbathers, players of frescobol, and casual conversations bathed in the golden hour. The iconic Dois Irmãos mountains form the backdrop as Christ the Redeemer oversees the city. Unexpected details, like a skull mural from a quiet side street, tiny figures exploring the Museu do Amanhã, and São Judas Tadeu from a local church, add contemplative depth. This fine art photography print is a personal interpretation of Rio as an emotional topography where energy, light, and spirituality coexist.

Series Details

The Breathe Series is where Charlotte Fonne's layering began. It explores the space where reality merges with the echoes of memories, where the essence of a place is captured not in a single photograph, but through the layering of multiple images.

The work began with an Impressionist impulse. Each layer serves as a translucent memory, and together they soften into a single painterly whole: the color palette shifts, light and shadow diffuse, and the line between what was seen and what was remembered blurs.

Shipping

Your order is made to order, so timing depends on the piece. Mounted and framed pieces typically arrive within 2 to 3 weeks, including production and delivery. Print-only orders ship faster, usually within about a week. Once your order ships, you will receive an email with a tracking number.

Return & Exchange

Each piece is made to order. In the rare event your artwork arrives defective or damaged, I will replace it once you send photographic evidence of the issue to charlotte@charlottefonne.com.

Because every piece is custom-made once ordered, I cannot offer refunds for a change of mind after an order is placed. My e-gift cards do not expire and are non-refundable once purchased.

I'm Charlotte,

a French-American artist, photographer, and traveler based in Miami. Inspired by art history and my travels, I build each artwork by layering many of my own photographs into a single image. What I keep is not how a place looked, but how I remember it.
